Reveiw of Morpeth Girls rugby Road Trip

Morpeth Girls extra-curricullar Rugby club were taken to watch London Irish v The Stormers, their first live rugby match.

Mahlia Rahman in Year 10, wrote a review of the experience:

"Sunday 15th January, European Cup Rugby, 21 girls, darkest West London, tube disruption, students in shorts, and Mr Mulholland in charge. What could possibly go wrong?

After some very impressive Rugby Training Sessions, this trip to the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford to watch London Irish vs The Stormers was more than unforgettable. Through this experience, it was a fantastic opportunity for the girls to further understand the rules of rugby whilst also having fun at their very first rugby game. However, no one said this journey was going to be easy… Mr Mulholland was super relaxed about us leading the way and thanks to our very own ‘Dora the Explorer’ Ramisa, it turned out, against the odds, to be a seamless journey.

Whilst it wasn’t the greatest day for London Irish, losing 14-28, it was certainly a day to remember for Morpeth Girls Rugby. There is a very big difference between watching a team play a sport that you have only started learning, and expressing your support with great enthusiasm. But there is also the ability to accomplish both and our girls nailed this perfectly. We were the most enthusiastic supporters in the stadium, joining in with the chants, appreciating and cheering on plays, respecting the opposing team and, unfortunately for a few of us, losing our voices. The London Irish winger, Lucio Cinti Luna was positioned directly in front of our seats.  ‘Number 14’ just about managed to concentrate on the game in the face of plenty of personalised support from Morpeth RFC.

Overall, I think this day was, as the Irish would say, Great Craic."
