Investigating physical and human features in Geography

Geography students spent two days in Surrey as part of their GCSE studies.

They investigated how the physical characteristics of the River Tillingbourne change as it flows downstream and how human features transform when moving from Guildford town centre, to the outskirts.

Pupils found the type, quality and frequency of services changed as they moved away from town and there were fewer shops. Houses were also bigger and spaced further apart.

Moving towards town, Pupils found there were more high rise buildings and the environment better maintained owing to the number of people visiting the town.

When collecting data for their investigation in to the River Tillingbourne, pupils found it became deeper and wider further down stream due to discharge and erosion.
